In March of 1959 Ellen Hart became Miss Subways. Her poster stated that she was involved in school plays and had a goal of pursuing acting after High School. She got married in 1962 just after turning 21 and had two sons, Kenneth and Ronald. She later returned to work at the coffee shop near City Hall that her husband owned that they turned into Ellen’s Café where they hosted a Miss Subways reunion. They later opened on 56th Street and Sixth Avenue modeled after a 50’s retro California diner with singing wait staff. After this, they moved to 51st and Broadway and became Ellen’s Stardust Diner. This diner is an extremely popular destination for people with stars in their eyes of all ages.
